WEARABLE MODEL

WEEK ONE//WEARABLE MODEL

In our first week, we were asked to create our wearable model based on a structure that inspires or represents us.

There are many attractive Morden buildings in Taiwan, but I think Tao Zhu Yin Yuan is one of the well-known landmarks in Taiwan, Taipei. It was designed by a Belgium architect called Vincent Callebaut, and the building was built in 2018.

They don’t have much information about the interior of this building because it is the most expensive living space in Taiwan. Still, there are many reports about the design of the architecture. The concept of this building is based on the double helix of DNA.

Because of the unique shape, the weight of the whole layer was supported by the middle structure so that you won’t see any pillars in the room. And the angle of each layer creates a private space for the residents on each floor, and it creates an interesting twist on the building’s exterior.

In this model, I used the carton from my package and cut the same shape to create each floor, and I used a cylinder in the middle to support each layer, just like the original building. And to create the twisting of the architecture, I measure each layer and make sure it has the same difference.

The shape of the cylinder immediately reminded me of a top hat for men, so I made this model into a hat.
