TATE BRITAIN EXHIBITION // CORNELIA PARKER
In this exhibition, I saw a different type of collection Cornelia Parker has collected and the way she shows it to the audience. She uses a lot of squeezing, rubbing, and exploding to reshape the look of an object. And she also uses a lot of light and shadow to display her works.

I like how she collects and reshapes the object and uses a huge display to create the works. She also has an attentive mind to observe the world and uses interesting ways to tell the audience.
I saw a lot of amazing work in this exhibition, but “Perpetual Canon” really impressed me. She squeezed the instrument she collected, displayed them in a round shape, and put the light bulb in the center of the collection, letting the viewers and the instrument’s shadows mix together.
And the words she describes in these works are very touching “The old instruments had experienced thousands of breaths circulating through them in their lifetime. They had their last breath squeezed out of them when they were squashed flat.”
The instrument may not play anymore, but it became another way to perform for the audience.
I think this exhibition shows the potential of materials and the creativity of the work’s display.
And the collection she collects redefines the value of an item.
