02 EXHIBITION

MUSEUM // SIR JOHN SOANE

This is my second time visiting the John Soane Museum, and this time I focus more on detail than the first time.

The building of the Sir John Soane Museum itself is an exceptional work of art, showing John Soane’s unique perspective and style in architectural design.

The room was divided into multiple sizes to display his collections. He also used the hallway and the corner to create more small spaces for the artworks, and the centre of the house was opened from the basement to the top floor, allowing each floor to see his mummified coffins collection.

The space in the museum is filled with natural light, achieved by installing skylights on the roof and using bright colours. This design makes the interior of the museum bright and open, and it could also allow visitors to appreciate the actual colours and details of the artwork.

The museum’s architectural elements are vibrant and diverse, including columns, arches, fireplaces, reliefs, and paintings. These elements come from different periods and styles, from ancient Rome and Greece to the Renaissance and Neoclassicism, showcasing John Soane’s deep understanding and love for architectural history and styles.
The museum’s detailed design is very meticulous, including sculptures, murals, patterns, and furnishings. These complex designs add artistic beauty to the architecture and demonstrate John Soane’s pursuit of perfection and continuous improvement in architectural details.
